FELICIDADES rafa !!!
PARABÉNS Vida_Maldita !! CONGRATULATIONS FreyjaUSA !

Race Leaderboard

Commentary

Two great lakes, Huron and Michigan, were the arena of our race. The first part of the race through Lake Huron went quite calmly and in the Straits of Mackinac the leaders of the race crystallized with WRmirekd leading. It might have seemed that the fate of the race was already decided. However, nothing could be further from the truth. It was on Michigan that the biggest changes took place, deciding on the final classification. First, WRmirekd lost the lead, probably having slept through the WX change. Vida_Maldita took the race lead. However, that was not the end of surprises. Rafa, who had been in the lower position until then, took a surprising route going west of “North Manitou” island. I guess Manitou penetrated Rafa’s mind and soul, suggesting him this path to a great victory. Second at the finish line was Vida_ Maldita, helpless against the forces of Manitou, and third FreyjaUSA.
Congratulations, gentlemen.

Commentary

The 2024 "Silver Rudder - Challenge of the Sea" was nothing short of a sailing masterclass, pushing competitors to their limits as they navigated Denmark’s island of Funen. Spanning 125 nautical miles, this year's race may have seen perfect weather—clear skies and steady winds—but the ever-changing wind patterns turned the course into a strategic battleground. Every SOLer needed sharp reflexes and expert judgment to navigate the unpredictable gusts and shifts in wind direction.

After 26 grueling hours of intense competition, WRmirekd from Poland emerged victorious, displaying unmatched precision and tactical brilliance. Hot on his heels was FreyjaUSA from the USA, whose relentless pursuit earned them a hard-fought second place. Vida_Maldita from Brazil rounded off the podium, delivering a clever and calculated performance to secure third place.

Kudos to all our daring participants for conquering these challenging winds and making it an unforgettable race!

Halifax to Hooper Bay 2024

And now it’s Autumn in the Arctic, the sun is permanently below the horizon, but during the day, from c 0900 to c 1700 local time, there is some twilight – nautical twilight, not to be confused with civil twilight which is brighter. Having receded all summer, ice is starting to return to the numerous straits and bays of Canada’s North West Passage. High time then to set off on our last leg of the High Latitudes Series from Halifax in Nova Scotia to Alaska’s Hooper Bay. It’s 3850nm and we need to hurry, so we’ll take the Pelagic 77!
